National Geographic, Sesame Street, BBC Active videos plus thousands of Spanish, Italian, German and French eBooks added to school and library lending service

Cleveland, OH USA – June 17, 2014 – OverDrive, the leading digital media platform for readers to borrow eBooks, audiobooks, music and streaming video from their local library, today announced dozens of new digital supplier agreements. With a growing catalog of more than 10,000 streaming videos, OverDrive recently added well-known programs from National Geographic, Sesame Street, and BBC Active (a Pearson company).

OverDrive also announced agreements covering more than 30,000 new eBook titles for library and school lending from European publishers and aggregators including RCS Group (Italian), Primento (Spanish), Libranda (Spanish), Zebralution (German), and DeMarque (French). These catalogs will be available in open industry standard EPUB format using OverDrive Read, OverDrive apps, and supported eReaders.

“Streaming video is the fastest-growing category of digital titles you can now access from your local library,” said Alexis Petric-Black, OverDrive’s manager of publisher account services. “The OverDrive collection of Hollywood feature films, documentaries, self-help and beloved children’s titles permit the public library to offer a first-stop destination for what to watch online.”

Recently added streaming video titles include the iconic, widely popular Sesame Street series, National Geographic’s Amazing Planet, Secrets of Yellowstone, and Stonehenge Decoded, plus about 1,000 educational and engaging titles from BBC Active. OverDrive is the only school and library digital supplier to seamlessly integrate streaming video with library and school eBook, audiobook and music catalogs, helping libraries create a single digital media destination for their communities.
