Digipalooza 2006 to Celebrate Digital Media in the Library
Summer Bash in Cleveland to Spotlight Download Audiobooks, eBooks, Music, Video, and Rock & Roll
Cleveland, Ohio – May 31, 2006 – Digital media vendor OverDrive announced today that it will host its first national user group meeting for librarians, July 28-30, 2006 in Cleveland, Ohio. Entitled Digipalooza 2006 (www.digipalooza.com), the weekend event will feature successes that libraries and consortia enjoy by lending download eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video from their online catalogs. Librarians from 30 states and 3 countries are registered for the conference which will include a gadget gathering, new title updates by publishers, librarian presentations, awards banquet, and guided tours of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (www.rockhall.com/).
OverDrive’s Digital Library Reserve (www.dlrinc.com) supplies award-winning digital book, music, and video titles to 3,000 libraries in the US and abroad that provide service to over 100 million patrons. “Over the past two years libraries have seen an explosion in the use of download audiobooks, eBooks, and other digital media,” stated Amy Dankowski, Digipalooza Crew Leader. “At Digipalooza 2006 librarians will share experiences and explore best practices to expand the reach of their download materials in a fun and informal setting,” Ms. Dankowski added.
