Frankfurt, Germany – October 14, 2009 – OverDrive (www.overdrive.com), the global leader in eBook and audiobook distribution to retail and institutional channels, announced today at the Frankfurt Book Fair (www.book-fair.com) that during 2009 it has signed agreements with over 150 new publishers, retailers, and libraries. OverDrive, which boasts a catalog of more than 400,000 digital titles, now hosts eBooks and audiobooks in 42 languages and supplies materials to retailers and libraries on 5 continents. At the Frankfurt Book Fair, OverDrive will showcase the latest enhancements to its distribution services for eBooks and digital audiobooks that work on leading platforms and devices, such as PC, Mac®, iPod®, Zune®, and Sony® Reader™.
“In the past 6 months we have seen an acceleration in eBook and digital audiobook activity, including the addition of 100,000 new titles to our catalog and the release of a mobile application for audiobook downloading,” said David Burleigh, director of marketing for OverDrive. “We’re continuing to make it even easier for users to discover and enjoy digital content with iPod-compatibility upgrades for OverDrive Download Stations in schools and libraries, as well as the launch of dozens of marketing campaigns with leading publishers, booksellers, and manufacturers.”
In 2009, the new publishers that have signed distribution agreements with OverDrive include companies in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Spain, France, Egypt, and China. This growing list of publishing partners has access to a global network of thousands of public libraries, schools, colleges, and retailers in the US, the UK, Canada, Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland, Australia, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, New Zealand, and many additional territories worldwide. OverDrive’s recently announced partnership with Baker & Taylor, the world’s largest distributor of physical and digital books and entertainment products, has also created hundreds of additional opportunities for publishers to deliver digital content to libraries and booksellers in the US and abroad.
