OverDrive helps Cityread London book club go digital
By Adam Sockel, OverDrive’s Social Media Specialist
OverDrive is excited to announce that we have teamed up with Cityread London for the first time to get this year’s featured book, Ten Days by Gillian Slovo, in eBook format for local public library authorities. Cityread London is an annual celebration of literature that aims to bring reading to life for the whole capital. Each April, Cityread asks London’s citizens, workers and visitors to pick up a book – the same book – and read it together.
Similar to OverDrive’s Big Library Read program, readers across London can borrow the Ten Days eBook for free, from their local library without wait lists or holds. Published by Canongate, Ten Days is about what happens when politics, policing and the hard realities of living in London collide.
OverDrive has now worked with over a dozen library systems to help create similar city wide reading programs. By adding a digital version of these large scale reading programs you can assure you’re reaching every corner of your community on the devices readers have with them at all times. To get started creating a similar reading program at your library contact your OverDrive Collection Development Specialist and if you’re attending PLA in Denver stop by the OverDrive booth (#603) to learn more about these digital reading events.
