Panel Perspectives: Learn How Librarians Engage Readers with Digital Magazines, Comics, and Graphic Novels
Is your library looking to engage new users, enhance your digital collection, and increase circulation? Recently, library experts Leslie LaBarte, District Consultant at Seneca District Libraries (PA), Libby Shaw, Digital Resources Librarian at Minuteman Library Network (MA) and Lauren Lane, Librarian I at San Bernardino County Library (CA) led a live panel discussion about comics and magazines in digital libraries.
Some highlights from this webinar included:
- According to Libby Shaw, 90% of the digital checkouts at her library take place in the Libby app (compared to the website). Having all the formats available in one place is what both the staff and patrons want.
- For Leslie, many of the small libraries couldn’t afford print magazines on their own. But through their consortia, they were able to add OverDrive Magazines and added comics last summer.
- At Lauren’s library, circulation of comics and graphic novels has gone up 22% year over year and continues to grow.
