
Big Movie Watch is Almost Here!
Get ready for Kanopy’s upcoming Big Movie Watch, launching September 19 and running through September 28. This program is available to U.S. and Canadian libraries on pay-per-use plans as well as those with PLUS-only accounts.
Canadian Kanopy users will be able to stream What We Did on Our Holiday through their public library, ticket free while U.S. users can enjoy The Love Punch. Both titles will be added to PLUS-only accounts for the duration of the program at no cost to your library. We encourage libraries to promote Big Movie Watch and have put together a marketing toolkit to help spread the word. About What We Did on Our Holiday
In this heartwarming comedy-drama, Doug (David Tennant) and Abi (Rosamund Pike) take their three children on a family vacation to Scotland for Doug’s father Gordie’s (Billy Connolly) 75th birthday. As Doug and Abi struggle to hide their impending divorce, their children innocently reveal family secrets, leading to humorous and unexpected situations. Amid the chaos, Gordie forms a special bond with his grandchildren, creating moments of love and laughter. What We Did on Our Holiday Programming Ideas
- Beach night at the library! Bring the summer vibes indoors! Invite your patrons to come dressed in their favorite vacation outfits and pack their go-to beach snacks. Encourage them to bring beach towels and blankets to get comfy for the show!
- Set up a DIY holiday postcard making station. Provide blank paper and art supplies and have your patrons design a card as if they are writing to home from a family holiday!
- Host a post movie discussion. Have your patrons discuss the movie or have them describe their ideal family holiday or share memories of the best family holiday they have been on.
About The Love Punch
In this British comedy set against the picturesque backdrops of Paris and the French Riviera, divorced couple Richard (Pierce Brosnan) and Kate (Emma Thompson) team up to recover their stolen retirement money. When Richard’s company is sold to a corrupt French businessman, Vincent (Laurent Lafitte), and their pension is lost, they hatch a plan to steal a valuable diamond from Vincent’s fiancee, Manon (Louise Bourgoin).
The Love Punch Programming Ideas
- Host a movie night at your library, watch the film, and reserve 30 minutes at the end for open discussion.
- Host dinner and a movie at your library. Run a cooking class and afterwards watch The Love Punch while the participants enjoy the meal they prepared.
- Host a jewelry making class, a nod to the diamond heist in the movie. Encourage your patrons to create their own “diamond” jewelry while watching the film.
- Encourage your patrons to wear their best vacation best. Set out props, like sunglasses, palm tree cut outs and passports for a fun photo opportunity!
- Invite a travel agent to give share information on trips to the French Riviera and other summer destinations.
