Library patrons can read and discuss “Going to Beautiful” ebook or audiobook for free

CLEVELAND – November 26, 2024 – Starting this week, library patrons can join thousands of readers across Canada in reading the latest Together We Read: Canada digital book club selection. From 25 November – 9 December, patrons of participating libraries can enjoy Canadian author Anthony Bidulka’s novel, “Going to Beautiful”, as an ebook and audiobook for free. Readers can access the digital book with no waitlists or holds by downloading the Libby app or visiting www.LibbyApp.com. Participants can also join in an online discussion with other readers across the country.

The Together We Read: Canada digital book club connects readers through Canadian public libraries with the same ebook for two weeks and only requires a library card from a participating library to get started. This free program is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for ebooks, audiobooks and magazines and creator of the award-winning Libby app.

In “Going to Beautiful,” international chef Jake Hardy has it all. Celebrity, thriving career, plenty of friends, a happy family and faithful dog. Until one day when a tragic accident tears it all apart. Struggling to recover, Hardy finds himself in a strange new world—a snow-swept prairie town that time forgot—a place where nothing makes sense. As the sun sets in the Land of Living Skies, Hardy and his glamourous, seventy-eight-year-old transgender neighbour find themselves ensnared in multiple murders separated by decades.

“At its core, ‘Going to Beautiful’ is a mystery novel. At its heart it’s a book about people,” said Bidulka. “The characters you’ll meet in Going to Beautiful are people who are underrepresented in contemporary Canadian crime fiction, living life in a place underrepresented in the same way.  They include a gay celebrity chef, a transgender best friend, a nonagenarian nun, a Chinese café owner, a gaggle of Ukrainians, most of whom are 55+ living in rural Saskatchewan…in winter!”

“Going to Beautiful” is published by Stonehouse Publishing and can be borrowed from participating libraries in Canada during Together We Read. The ebook and audiobook can be read on all major computers and devices without waitlists or holds. The title will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and there are no late fees. Download Libby or visit www.LibbyApp.com or to get started.
