Gurewitz brings publisher knowledge and experience in library market to newly created role

Cleveland – July 26, 2011 – OverDrive announced today that Brian Gurewitz, formerly President of Library Sales for Books on Tape, a division of Random House, Inc., has joined its team as Director of Content Sales. In addition to providing leadership to OverDrive’s Content Sales group, Gurewitz brings a decade of experience in assisting libraries with their collection development goals through access to premium content.

“I’m excited to help more than 15,000 libraries worldwide develop and maintain high-circulating digital collections with OverDrive’s catalog of 500,000 premium titles from more than 1,000 publishers,” said Brian Gurewitz, director of content sales at OverDrive. “Libraries have already seen the benefits of providing eBooks, audiobooks, and more to their patrons, and the surging popularity of digital formats requires collection development assistance that only OverDrive’s team can offer.”

Gurewitz has more than 20 years of sales management experience, including 10 years in the library market as President of Library Sales at Books on Tape. While at Books on Tape, Brian worked closely with OverDrive, originally helping make Books on Tape’s digital audiobook downloads available to libraries. He also partnered with OverDrive to develop both pre-publication audiobook sales and the OverDrive Advantage program, which enables libraries that are members of a shared collection the ability to offer titles exclusively for their patrons.

OverDrive provides digital distribution services for 15,000 libraries, retailers, and schools worldwide with support for Windows®, Mac®, iPod®, iPhone®, iPad®, Sony® Reader, NOOK™, Android™, BlackBerry®, and Windows Phone.
