More Manga Than Ever Is Now Available To Schools
By Liz Tousey, Librarian and Collection Development Analyst at OverDrive.
We are happy to announce that manga in the MediaDo reader format is now available to schools! The MediaDo reader is browser-based reader that’s designed to handle graphic books that are read from right to left, which includes most manga titles. Having this new format available means that hundreds of popular manga graphic books are now available in Marketplace! Some excellent highlights include Kodansha’s Attack on Titan and Fairy Tale series, Cork’s The Diary of Ochibi, and Stren Co.’s The Magical Cat Ghee.
Using the MediaDo reader is much like using the OverDrive Read, but the pages go in reverse. On the checkouts page, a button appears to “read in your browser,” your book pops up, and away you go. For more information about the MediaDo format, visit the following help pages:

If you don’t know much about manga, but you know that your students want it, Kondansha Comics and we here at OverDrive have created a introductory document detailing all the basics that you need to know.

And finally, to help with shopping for manga, we’ve compiled a list of shojo (geared toward tween and teen girls) and shonen (geared toward tween and teen boys) manga for you to select from. See below for links to some great manga and other terrific graphic book lists. (Links require logging into Marketplace to view)
