Meet the OverDrive Librarians
By: Annie Suhy, OverDrive Collection Development Analyst
You’ve met Libby, but have you met our other OverDrive Librarians? There’s a entire team of us dedicated librarians and book lovers waiting in the wings to help you select, manage, and curate the content in your library’s digital collection. Now, you can meet each of our smiling faces under Collection Development on the Resource Center and learn about our personal reading interests and even view our monthly reading recommendations! With specialized Library and School teams, our collection development services are specific to your territory and user base.
So, what can we do for you? Lots! Starting with creating recommended carts, we can customize content suggestions for your library and alert you to pre-orders, newly added content, or create niche collections like LGBTQ titles, streaming video, series gaps, award winners—the possibilities are endless. Need help managing holds or expiring content, or even weeding your collection? These tasks can be time-consuming and cumbersome—let our team do the dirty work for you! And after all the content selection is done, let us promote your collection by shouting it from the rooftops— in other words, curating fun, fresh content on your library’s homepage. You can showcase new titles, promote older material to get it circulating, or tie a collection into local programming and events. More curation = more circulation!
But that’s not all we do. We also compile the Recommended Lists on the Resource Center for both Public Libraries and K-12 Schools and create lists based on the latest book trends, news, events and holidays, starred reviews, curricular needs, and much more. Check out the newly added categories on the Library page: Stars & Awards, Top of the List, Staff Picks, and separate pages for United Kingdom, Australia & New Zealand, Spanish Language, and World Languages. Each set of lists has a NEW! category at the top of the page where you can now find the very latest additions so you’ll never miss a newly added list.
