Marching toward summer

Excuse my wordplay, but we really are marching toward the summer months. Perhaps you even have a countdown (I might). Though the office stays open all year here at OverDrive HQ, there is still something sweet about the dog days of summer. It may be easy to throw in the towel and say there’s always “next school year” for eReading initiatives but we hope you’ll stick with us because we always have something going on to keep your students engaged and excited about digital reading!

Revitalize at the Resource Center

OverDrive’s Resource Center is continuously updated to help you promote your digital collection all year long. In What’s Trending, you’ll find a very topical “Tough Topics for Teens” kit which includes graphics, print pieces, and recommended reading lists to let teens struggling through life’s many hardships know they aren’t alone. We also have “Top 100 Title Cards” that can be folded and placed between your print stacks or cut to serve as a display piece throughout your school. Check back each month to see what else is “trending!”

We offer monthly live webcasts for you and your staff to stay up to date on what’s happening in the ed-tech space. You can watch live and submit questions to expert OverDrive staff or catch the recorded session at a time more convenient for you! Our training staff promise to keep you both educated and entertained!

No Summer Slide with OverDrive Summer Read

We couldn’t talk summer and not mention OverDrive Summer Read! Since the summer of 2014, OverDrive has been proud to offer select content from popular publishers during the summer months. These titles are offered as simultaneous access, meaning they are always available to students no matter when or how often the titles are checked out! That’s right: instant access, instant gratification! This year’s set, 8 titles in total, will be offered June 6 – July 18, 2018. We will announce the titles later this month! We will also include an informative and entertaining title breakdown from OverDrive’s own Professional Book Nerds and a promotional kit that will include print pieces and graphics.

Sora is Coming!

OverDrive’s development team has been hard at work building Sora, OverDrive’s new app exclusively for schools. Some highlights: Sora includes tips and secrets for the best and most efficient user reading experience, looks the same across all devices, allows for students to search for their school by map or text code, AND students can access their public library right from the app. If you would like more information on Sora or would be interested in our pilot program, please reach out to our OverDrive Team.
