In fact, according to the Audio Publishers Association, U.S. audiobook sales increased 9% in 2025, reaching $2.43 billion in revenue. Within the Libby App, unique audiobook users in North America have increased by 12.8% from 2024-2025. As more readers embrace listening, libraries have an opportunity to expand access to the titles and formats patrons want most.

Luckily for you, you don’t have to spend hours digging through sale lists to find the best opportunities. To help you make the most of the Audiobook Month Sale, we asked OverDrive’s librarians to share some of their favorite Marketplace shortcuts and collection development tips.

Start with the Demand That’s Already There

If you’re looking for the quickest way to make an impact, start with titles patrons are actively waiting for.

From the NEWS tab in Marketplace, select SHOP HOLDS to view high-demand titles with existing holds. It’s a simple way to identify purchases that can help reduce wait times and improve the patron experience right away.

Let Patrons Help Guide Your Purchasing

Libby’s Notify Me feature is one of the best tools for understanding what patrons want next.

Select SHOP NOTIFY ME from the NEWS tab to see titles your patrons have tagged that aren’t currently in your collection. These recommendations come directly from demonstrated interest, making them a great place to focus your budget.

Complete the Series Patrons Love

A missing installment can stop a reader—or listener—in their tracks.

Use the series links on the Marketplace home page to identify popular series that your library doesn’t own in their entirety. From there, apply the Audiobook format filter along with the Sale Status filter to quickly uncover discounted titles that can help complete those collections.

For example, the Heated Rivalry audiobook, book #2 in the wildly popular Game Changers series, is currently on sale. Make sure you get the spicy hockey-themed romance while its hot (and discounted)!

Watch for Your Ebook-to-Audiobook Cart

Throughout June, libraries will automatically receive a Marketplace cart designed to make audiobook collection development even easier.

The cart includes up to 400 popular sale audiobooks that your library doesn’t currently own—but does own in ebook format. It’s an easy way to identify opportunities to expand format availability for titles your patrons are already discovering and enjoying.

A Quick Reminder: Sort Is Your Friend

One of the most useful Marketplace tools is also one of the easiest to overlook.

As you browse the sale, remember that search results can be sorted by:

• Holds
• Notify Me tags
• Price
• Street date
• And more

A simple change to your sort order can help surface the titles that best align with your collection goals.
