Over the past year we’ve crossed the globe from Argentina to (New) Zealand and back again as part of our 2024 World Literary Tour. We visited 15 cities across the globe and explored thousands of titles in 11 languages!

2024 World Literary Tour 

Our 2024 World Literary Tour started in Berlin, Germany, the vibrant and dynamic capital. Here we explored famous German authors, top selling literature, and prize winners from German publishing partners. Shop German content in Marketplace. 

Next, we headed to Hangzhou, China for Lunar New Year. As we welcomed the Year of the Dragon, we also celebrated the rich history of Chinese literature. Shop Chinese content in Marketplace. 

From China we made our way to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Here in the capital and largest city of Saudi Arabia, we honored the holy month of Ramadan and celebrated Arabic language with a curated collection of ebooks and audiobooks available from Arabic publishing partners. Our World Literary Tour next took us to Seoul, South Korea! The city’s founding dates back to 18 BC, and the nation’s writing system is one of the youngest alphabets in the world. Shop Korean content in Marketplace. 

After Korea the World Literary Tour made a stop in the robust, cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Home to great modernist and post-modernist authors, the literary history of the area is as rich and colorful as the city itself. Shop Argentinian content in Marketplace. 

Soon after Argentina, we found ourselves in Auckland, New Zealand. Here we discovered recommended lists and curated collections featuring Kiwi stories, Indigenous voices, and Māori language works from various Oceania publishers. Shop New Zealand content in Marketplace. 

Next, we went to Krakow, Poland. Recognized as a UNESCO City of Literature, Krakow boasts a vibrant and historical literary and art scene. Shop Polish content in Marketplace. 

From Poland, the World Literary Tour made a stop in Singapore, Southeast Asia. Since its establishment as an independent nation in 1965, Singapore has transformed into a vibrant literary giant and is home to the National Library Board, one of the largest and most advanced library systems in Asia. Our next stop was in Tokyo, Japan. Our visit coincided with Obon, a three-day celebration held to honor the spirits of ancestors long passed. What better way to join the festivities than by exploring Japan’s rich literary history? Shop Japanese content in Marketplace.

For Hispanic Heritage Month our World Literary Tour took us to Tijuana, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. The proximity of these two cities on the United States-Mexico border has fostered a unique blend of cultural influences, creating a dynamic space for writers and artists. This year, our Fall Chinese Content Sale joined us on the World Literary Tour as we made our way to Taipei, Taiwan & Jinan, China. We shopped a variety of titles in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Mandarin as we immersed ourselves in the vibrant literary scenes of these two cities. Our final stop on the 2024 World Literary Tour was another pair of cities, this time Cannes, France and Quebec City, Canada. Cannes is a vibrant hub of film and culture while Quebec City holds a significant place in the landscape of French literature. Shop French content in Marketplace.
