OverDrive Names Marc DeBevoise President, Expanding Support for Libraries and Schools

Bringing decades of digital leadership to strengthen OverDrive’s mission for libraries and schools.

CLEVELAND, OH — March 3, 2026 — As OverDrive — home to Libby, Sora, and Kanopy — moves into its next chapter, the company today announced that Marc DeBevoise has been named President and appointed to the Board of Directors.

“Every day, librarians and educators turn effort into impact. Marc shares that spirit, and his leadership will help us make Libby, Sora, and Kanopy even more user friendly, more inclusive, and more joyful to use,” said Steve Potash, Founder & CEO of OverDrive. “He’s spent his career helping people connect with the stories and ideas that move them, and he’s joining us to help libraries and schools do what they do best, change lives through reading, viewing, and learning.”

As libraries and schools navigate rising demand for digital access, scarce budgets, increasing expectations for accessibility, and the need for high-quality content across books, audiobooks, and video, DeBevoise will guide OverDrive’s continued investment in tools, partnerships, and product innovation that support educators, librarians, and learners.

DeBevoise has led teams that built widely used digital experiences at Brightcove, Paramount, and CBS Interactive. He holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor of Digital Strategy at New York University and serves on the Board of The Door, a large New York City non-profit youth development organization. His experience at the intersection of media, technology, and learning positions him to help OverDrive expand how students, teachers, and library patrons discover and engage with stories, knowledge, and ideas in every format.

“Libraries and schools are where curiosity becomes understanding,” said DeBevoise “I am excited to support this community and to help OverDrive expand access to the full spectrum of stories and ideas available through the books, audiobooks, films, and documentaries that entertain and enlighten every reader and deepen learning for every student.”
