Reaching More Patrons: Pay Per Use Marketing Materials Now Available in English, French, and Spanish

Libraries have always been committed to serving everyone in their communities, but that mission is only as strong as the tools available to carry it out. When patrons don’t know a service exists or can’t access information about it in their own language, even the best programs go underused. That’s why we’re excited to share that the patron-facing Pay Per Use marketing kit has been updated and is now available in English, French, and Spanish. Whether your community is predominantly one language or beautifully multilingual, you now have ready-made materials to help more patrons discover and take advantage of your Kanopy catalog.

Why Multilingual Materials Matter

The United States, Canada, and communities across the world are more linguistically diverse than ever. For some library patrons, English is a second language and navigating unfamiliar services in an unfamiliar language can be a real barrier. Libraries have long worked hard to make sure each and every patron feels genuinely welcome and informed. Providing marketing materials in French and Spanish alongside English is a meaningful step toward reducing friction for patrons who might otherwise miss out on a valuable resource available to them.

What’s New in the Updated Kit?

The refreshed Pay Per Use (PPU) Marketing Kit includes patron-facing materials designed to clearly explain what Kanopy offers and encourage engagement. Print materials, flyers, bookmarks, and how-to guides are now available in three languages: English, French, and Spanish. The bookmarks and how-to guides can be printed and displayed throughout your library to help patrons install and use Kanopy. The kit also includes digital assets for your library’s social media channels and newsletters, along with a programming guide featuring promotional ideas and ready-to-use copy for emails and social posts. All graphics have been refreshed to highlight the wide variety of high-quality content available on Kanopy, helping patrons understand that they can enjoy these films and programs whenever they need them at no additional cost.

How Libraries Can Put This to Work

Getting these materials in front of patrons is easier than you might think. Consider printing flyers, posters or even bookmarks, for high-traffic areas like circulation desks, study rooms, and community bulletin boards. Digital versions can be shared through your library’s website, email newsletters, social media channels, and on your in-library digital screens. If your library hosts programming for French or Spanish speaking community members, staff can distribute the relevant language version directly at those events.

The updated Pay Per Use marketing kit is available now on the US Resource Center and the Canadian Resource Center. Download your preferred language versions and start putting them to work in your community!
