Read Now, Read Forever: celebrate Children’s Book Week 2019
By: Sarah Wilsman, Content Specialist
Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Running April 29 – May 5, this year’s celebration marks its centennial.
This year’s theme, Read Now, Read Forever, celebrates the past, present and future of children’s books. The official Children’s Book Week 2019 poster (right) was illustrated by the beloved Yuyi Morales, who wrote and illustrated Dreamers, winner of the 2019 Pura Belpré Illustrator Award. Every Child a Reader and the Children’s Book Council sponsor Children’s Book Week, and support popular year-round initiatives like Get Caught Reading and the Children’s & Teen’s Choice Book Awards.
