Prestigious honour acknowledges the app’s excellence in Europe

LONDON – 29 October 2019 Libby, the award-winning one tap reading app for public library authorities and schools worldwide, was named a Silver Lovie Winner in Apps, Mobile, Podcasts & Voice: Utilities & Services. The Lovie Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the most prestigious honour in Europe for excellence across websites, online advertising, internet video, apps, mobile sites & podcasts and social. Libby was created by Rakuten OverDrive, the leading global digital reading platform dedicated to serving public library authorities and schools in the UK and around the world.

“We’re proud to receive this recognition for the app, and, more importantly, for the valuable public service provided by European public libraries,” said Paul Davighi, UK & Ireland Country Manager at OverDrive. “Libraries provide many important services, including the 24/7 convenience of ebook and audiobook lending, and OverDrive is honoured to work closely with libraries to help meet the needs of their entire community.”

Libby allows users to borrow ebooks, audiobooks and magazines from their public library with their library card and was built with feedback from librarians and readers for maximum ease-of-use. The app provides the same app experience on mobile devices, desktops or operating systems for Apple®, Android™ and Windows®.

Since 2004, OverDrive has provided digital book services for the UK and now partners with a growing list of 200 library authorities and schools. OverDrive recently sponsored Public Libraries: The Case for Support, a report showcasing UK libraries’ positive impact on users, communities and the local economy. OverDrive also offers the largest collection of bestselling and award-winning ebooks and audiobooks to more than 43,000 libraries and schools in 76 countries, including over 90% of North American public libraries. Users of public libraries in the OverDrive network can borrow ebooks and audiobooks with Libby anytime, anywhere.

Libby will be honoured at the 9th Annual Lovie Awards Celebration on Thursday 14 November 2019 in London. A full list of The Lovie Awards Winners can be found here. To learn more about Libby and get started reading ebooks and audiobooks from the local library, visit meet.libbyapp.com.
