Libby now available in 10 languages
Bonjour! Hola! Nǐ hǎo! Willkommen! Privyet!
To help further serve the needs of your diverse reading community, our Libby reading app is going on a world tour with its latest update. Libby’s user interface now supports 9 additional languages. All of the helpful information and guides (not the ebooks and audiobooks themselves) can be updated to the patron’s native language to simplify their experience. Your patrons can browse collections, search for specific titles, get help, and more in the following languages:
- English
- Spanish
- French (Canada)
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Russian
- Swedish
If a user’s device is set to one of these languages, Libby will automatically display in that language.
Visit our Resource Center for new multilingual marketing kits to reach even more readers!
Note: While this release does not affect the languages of the content in your collection, you can find ebooks and audiobooks in over 100 languages in OverDrive Marketplace. Contact your Account Manager if you have questions about purchasing or curating content in additional languages for your collection.
Multilingual Curation
We recommend adding translated collection names and descriptions to your library’s curated or automated lists. You can do this in the CURATE section of OverDrive Marketplace. Once you do, these translations will automatically appear if the user is browsing Libby in that language.
Additional Updates
You may also notice enhancements to Libby’s reader and audiobook player. Based on user feedback, we’ve made several updates, including:
- More intuitive controls for playback speed and the sleep timer in audiobooks
- An easier view of pages (or time) left in your current chapter
You can expect to see additional updates to Libby soon—stay tuned!
