Maybe it’s the smell of popcorn coming from the kitchen or the comfort of curling up on the couch wrapped in a blanket with a cat in my lap. Whatever it is, I love movie night. And while I also love me an afternoon in the movie theater, there truly is something special about recreating that experience at home (if for no other reason than I am pretty sure my local theater would not like it if I brought my cats with me).

Between now and Feb. 19, 2024, Kanopy users at libraries in the United States and Canada can have their own movie night at home with Big Movie Watch!

About Big Movie Watch

Kanopy users at participating libraries will be able to watch the 2022 romantic comedy What’s Love Got to Do with It? through their public library ticket-free.

Perfect for Valentine’s Day, What’s Love Got to Do With It? is the story of documentary filmmaker Zoe (Lily James). For her, swiping right to find Mr. Right has only delivered bad dates and funny anecdotes. For her childhood friend Kazim (Shazad Latif), the answer is to opt for an assisted marriage. As Zoe films his hopeful journey to marry a stranger, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a different approach to finding love.

After watching What’s Love Got to Do With It? viewers can chat with others on the discussion board here. They can also join the conversation on social media using the hashtag #bigmoviewatch.
