Molly knows the value of a good book. No matter what’s going on at home, she has the book club at school to turn to. That is, until someone anonymously notifies the school board about a controversial book in the classroom and her favorite teacher Ms. Lewiston is suspended. Now the book club is on hold until further notice, and Molly is feeling lost. She knows she has to prove to everyone that the books Mrs. Lewiston shared with her students are more important than the adults understand, so she and her group of friends decide to take a stand of their own. From writing to their favorite author to protesting on the football field, Molly will discover just what it takes to make a change. With both humor and heart, this book tackles school censorship, displays why representation matters, and celebrates how stepping into someone else’s story can lead to empathy.

Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner

From the publisher: Creation Lake is a novel about a secret agent, a thirty-four-year-old American woman of ruthless tactics, bold opinions, and clean beauty, who is sent to do dirty work in France.
“Sadie Smith” is how the narrator introduces herself to her lover, to the rural commune of French subversives on whom she is keeping tabs, and to the reader.
Sadie has met her love, Lucien, a young and well-born Parisian, by “cold bump”—making him believe the encounter was accidental. Like everyone Sadie targets, Lucien is useful to her and used by her. Sadie operates by strategy and dissimulation, based on what her “contacts”—shadowy figures in business and government—instruct. First, these contacts want her to incite provocation. Then they want more.
In this region of centuries-old farms and ancient caves, Sadie becomes entranced by a mysterious figure named Bruno Lacombe, a mentor to the young activists who communicates only by email. Bruno believes that the path to emancipation from what ails modern life is not revolt, but a return to the ancient past.
Just as Sadie is certain she’s the seductress and puppet master of those she surveils, Bruno Lacombe is seducing her with his ingenious counter-histories, his artful laments, his own tragic story.
Written in short, vaulting sections, Rachel Kushner’s rendition of “noir” is taut and dazzling. Creation Lake is Kushner’s finest achievement yet as a novelist, a work of high art, high comedy, and unforgettable pleasure.

From your OverDrive DCL: What would you do if a stranger told you when and how you would die? This is the thought-provoking premise of Liane Moriarty’s latest novel. On an otherwise ordinary flight, a seemingly unremarkable woman suddenly stands up and makes her way down the aisle, pointing at each passenger and declaring her predictions for their age and cause of death. Some patrons (mostly those with many more years predicted) laugh this off, but a handful of passengers whose predicted deaths aren’t far away at all start to wonder if there might be something more to this strange woman, who comes to be known as “The Death Lady.”
After the flight most passengers go about their lives and try to shake off the woman’s unsettling words, but a few months later, one passenger dies exactly as predicted. When more passengers die as The Death Lady foretold, the remaining passengers start to wonder if there is truth to the woman’s words, and whether it’s possible to change your fate. With a rich cast of likeable characters, humor, nuance, and heart, this book asks an age-old question through a fresh lens and will leave readers with much to ponder. This book will delight Liane Moriarty die-hard fans, and it’s sure to draw in new readers too!
