Help students find their own voice during Be An Author Month!
March is Be An Author Month, and the Sora reading platform is excited to partner with Book Creator to bring literacy to life for students everywhere.
What is Be An Author Month?
Simply put, March is a month dedicated to literacy! We celebrate National Reading Month, Listening Awareness Month, and March into Literacy Month – so it’s the perfect time to inspire students to embrace creativity, articulate their thoughts, and harness the strength of their voice.
How can you get involved?
It’s all about authenticity. Kids love becoming authors—creating a book is a tangible and relatable experience. When students know their work will be seen beyond the classroom, they put in extra effort. Let’s turn learners (and maybe even educators) into published authors through reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities across all subjects.
This year, Be An Author Month is about Telling Your Story—empowering students to explore their unique narratives and share their perspectives with the world. There are countless ways to tell a story—through writing, drawing, coding, video creation, or audio recordings. Let’s get creative and explore the possibilities together!
Why we’re supporting Be An Author Month
We know how important reading is to student achievement – but writing is equally vital! And giving your students the power to step into the shoes of some of their favorite writers and take ownership of their creative expression is a great way to build not just their enthusiasm, but their confidence in their own skill with words.
Plus, Sora offers some unique self-publishing tools that can help you support your aspiring authors. With options like Local Content, a free feature that allows you to add your own ebooks and audiobooks to your Sora collection, you can build collections of student-authored works for your entire school community to borrow and enjoy! (Please note that you must have the necessary ownership rights to upload Local Content titles.)
Don’t miss out on a chance to foster the next generation of storytellers right from your own classroom!
