Kanopy’s PLUS Pack Refresh: New Easy Watching Titles are Here!
Kanopy’s Content Programming team wrapped up a refresh of their PLUS Packs and this past month’s focus was our Easy Watching PLUS Pack for libraries in the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Here’s a look at what’s new, plus a reminder about the Kanopy Spring Sale, happening now.
United States Easy Watching Updates
This month’s US refresh brings a mix of heartwarming romances and crowd-pleasing favorites:
Home Again

Recently separated, Alice (Reese Witherspoon) finds an unexpected new family when three young filmmakers move into her guest house. A warm, witty romantic comedy about starting over — and discovering that the families we build for ourselves can be just as powerful as the ones we’re born into.
Hearts Beat Loud

A single dad (Nick Offerman) and his college-bound daughter (Kiersey Clemons) accidentally go viral when their weekly jam sessions take on a life of their own. A tender, music-filled story about letting go, growing up, and staying connected when everything is about to change.
Dancing Queen

Twelve-year-old Mina falls head over heels for a famous dancer who’s just moved to her town — there’s just one problem: she can’t dance. A charming, feel-good story about first love, misplaced confidence, and the courage it takes to leap anyway.
Emma

Romola Garai (Golden Globe nominated) stars as Jane Austen’s beloved, self-assured matchmaker in this witty and perceptive adaptation. Emma Woodhouse is clever, comfortable, and convinced she knows best — which makes her inevitable lessons all the more satisfying to watch unfold. Sharp, funny, and endlessly rewatchable.
Canada Easy Watching Updates
Canada’s refresh leans into stories of unexpected bonds and warm-hearted adventures:
My Penguin Friend

Inspired by a true story: a heartbroken fisherman rescues a penguin from an oil spill, and the two form an unbreakable friendship that even the vastness of the ocean can’t sever. Enchanting for all ages, and quietly moving.
Thelma

After being duped by a phone scammer, 93-year-old Thelma Post (June Squibb, in her first leading role after 70+ years in the industry) sets out on a daring cross-city mission to reclaim what was stolen. Think Mission: Impossible energy — with genuine heart and a grandmother who refuses to be underestimated.
Lolo

Julie Delpy writes, directs, and stars in this sharp dark comedy about a new romance sabotaged at every turn by a spectacularly manipulative teenage son. A Venice Film Festival selection that blends romantic comedy warmth with a deliciously cynical edge.
Emma

Also joining the CA library — this beloved Austen adaptation is a perfect fit for Easy Watching audiences. See the US entry above for the full write-up.
Australia and New Zealand Easy Watching Updates
Australia’s lineup celebrates local storytelling alongside internationally beloved titles:
Magic Beach

Alison Lester’s beloved children’s book — a staple of Australian families for 30 years — comes to life in a beautiful blend of live action and animation. A dreamy, imaginative journey to a seaside where anything is possible, perfect for watching with the ones you love.
A Month of Sundays

A divorced real estate agent who can’t quite move on receives a phone call from his late mother. Quietly profound — a film about grief, regret, and the improbable second chances that find us when we least expect them. Intimate, relatable, and genuinely moving.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill

A street musician drifting through San Francisco finds unexpected purpose and community through his friendship with a flock of wild red-and-green parrots. A documentary as warm as it is surprising — a gentle, life-affirming watch.
Jasper Jones

Based on Craig Silvey’s bestselling novel and featuring Toni Collette and Hugo Weaving, this coming-of-age mystery follows a bookish 14-year-old whose summer is upended by a dangerous secret. Set in small-town Western Australia in 1969, it’s engrossing, surprising, and made with obvious care — winner of the Australian Writers’ Guild Awgie Award for best adapted screenplay.
