My dog, Bianca, reminds me of Rapunzel from the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. Perhaps it’s her tendency to isolate herself or the cleverness she shows day by day…or perhaps it’s just the hair. (Submitted by Tiffany Wincek, School Partner Services)

   

 

Boston Terriers are known as “the American Gentleman” and Roscoe truly is a little gentleman. Much like Jay Gatsby, from The Great Gatsby, he’s playful and always ready for a good time, but he has his moments of seriousness (or however serious a puppy can be…)! I feel Willow (yes, after the beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer resident Wicca) is most like Meg in A Wrinkle in Time. She’s terribly anxious and often believes the worst (in her mind, a thunderstorm will surely be the end of us all). But, despite all that worry, she is loyal and loving. I believe that should any unexplained elements of time and the universe descend upon our world, she’d do her best to keep us safe. Look at that face! This is Apollo. He reminds me of Curious George, because he is always hunting around and sticking his hound nose in places it doesn’t belong. That curiosity of his is always getting him into trouble—he knocks things over, eats clean clothes out of the hamper, and makes a mess of everything! No one loves a car ride as much as Iceman. He’d drive the car given the chance and shenanigans would ensue. I can’t help but picture him when reading Fred and Ted’s Road Trip. I’ll say that Icee is more Fred than Ted… clearly up for adventure, always getting messy, and the overall less practical road trip partner. The white dog is Pandora, the brown one is Odin. Pandora is hearing impaired, but grew up with her brother Odin who has been there for her since the beginning. They remind me of Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee respectively from .The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Like Sam couldn’t carry the ring for Frodo but would carry Frodo instead, Odin may not be able to make his sister hear, but he will keep her from danger and carry her to safety.
