Citizens can enter an ancient world by reading “Circe” ebook for free

UNITED KINGDOM –1 November 2018 – Libraries across the UK are offering the latest country-wide digital book club selection, connecting their patrons with others participating around the UK. From 1-15 November, readers can enjoy the Circe ebook, from Orange Prize-winning, internationally bestselling author Madeline Miller, for free with no waitlists or holds through the international digital book club Together We Read. Library patrons can access the ebook by downloading the Libby app then participate in an online discussion.

Together We Read is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for ebooks, audiobooks and magazines. This international digital book club connects readers in the UK with the same ebook at the same time through public libraries.

“I was honored to learn that Circe had been chosen as the OverDrive Together We Read selection,” said Madeline Miller. “My mother was a librarian, and I spent my childhood in libraries, so I have witnessed firsthand the vital and transformative work they do in the world. I would not be the writer nor the person I am without their generosity and resources.”

Chosen as must-read book of 2018 by the Guardian, Independent, Mail on Sunday, Sunday Express and Stylist, Circe takes place in the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, where a daughter is born. But Circe has neither the look nor the voice of divinity and is scorned and rejected by her kin. Increasingly isolated, she turns to mortals for companionship, leading her to discover a power forbidden to the gods: witchcraft. To protect what she holds dear, Circe must decide whether she belongs with the deities she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love

Together We Read is a free program that runs for two weeks and only requires a library card to get started. Circe is published by Bloomsbury Publishing and can be read on all major computers and devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets and Chromebook™ without waitlists or holds. The title will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and there are no late fees.

More information and the online discussion can be found at TogetherWeRead.com.
