Are all of your holds coming in at the same time? We have a solution!
One of the best things about being a reader? Having so many books to read!
One of the worst things about being a reader? Having so many books to read! Especially when you put several on hold and they all become available at once.
This is why we’re so excited to introduce our brand-new Deliver Later feature!
With Deliver Later, you now have more control over your holds. Not ready to read the latest James Patterson? Or maybe the third book in the series comes in before the second? Choose the Deliver Later option, and the title will go to the next waiting patron — but you won’t lose your place in line. When you pick Deliver Later, you’ll choose the earliest date you’d like to receive the title. After the date you pick, you’ll get the next available copy of the title.
To support this feature, we have removed the auto-checkout setting. Going forward, after you receive a notification that your hold is ready, you will have the following options:
- Borrow the title within the 3-day pickup period
- Cancel the hold
- Choose the “Deliver Later” option
- If you take no action during the 3-day pickup period, the “deliver after seven days” option will automatically be applied as a one-time courtesy for that hold and the book will be passed on to the next person on the wait list. After the 7-day period, you will have another chance to borrow the book when the next copy becomes available. If no action is taken a second time, the hold will be canceled automatically
We’re really excited about our new Deliver Later feature and hope you are, too. Now, you can take more control over your hold queue, so you always have the right book at the right time.
