LONDON – 10 September 2020 – Public library services and thousands of readers across the United Kingdom come together for the latest Together We Read: UK digital book club selection. From 10th-24th September, patrons of participating library authorities can experience bestselling author Heather Morris’s moving and uplifting The Tattooist of Auschwitz ebook for free with no waitlists or holds. Readers can find a participating library and access this intentional bestseller by downloading the Libby app, and then participate in an online discussion.

The Together We Read: UK digital book club connects readers in the UK with the same ebook at the same time through public library services. This two-week programme is completely free, requiring only a valid library card from a participating library to get started. Together We Read is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for ebooks, audiobooks and magazines and creator of the award-winning Libby app.

“As a mother and also a reader of library books, I clearly am a strong supporter and advocate for the local library,” said author Heather Morris. “And now as an author, I get to appreciate libraries for the access they give to readers of my books, and I am so grateful they continue to thrive.”

The Tattooist of Auschwitz begins in 1942 when Lale Sokolov arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival – scratching numbers into his fellow victims’ arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust. Waiting in line to be tattooed, terrified and shaking, was a young girl. For Lale – a dandy, a jack-the-lad, a bit of a chancer – it was love at first sight. And he was determined not only to survive himself, but to ensure this woman, Gita, did, too. So begins one of the most life-affirming, courageous, unforgettable and human stories of the Holocaust: the love story of the tattooist of Auschwitz

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is published by Bonnier Publishing Fiction and can be borrowed from participating libraries in the UK during Together We Read 10th-24th September. The ebook can be read on all major computers and devices including iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets, Chromebook™ and Kobo® tablets and eReaders and without any waitlists or holds. The title will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and there are no late fees. Download Libby to get started.
