OverDrive donates collection of 100 high-interest titles for young readers from Britannica, Lerner, Rosen and Triangle

CLEVELAND – November 10, 2020 OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for libraries and schools worldwide, introduced a new way to help libraries and schools meet increased demand for digital content. To supplement remote and hybrid learning for Spanish-language readers, OverDrive donated 100 Spanish-language titles for young readers to more than 19,000 public libraries and  over 38,000 schools around the world. This bundle includes high-interest Spanish-language ebook, audiobook and Read-Along titles with unlimited access for patrons and students through September 30, 2021.

This free collection allows libraries and schools to encourage community engagement with young readers through book clubs, language programs and more. Notable titles include ¡Que vivan los bibliotecarios!, Perdida en el museo and Hibernación. Ebooks and audiobooks in this collection come from Britannica Digital Learning, Lerner Publishing Group, Rosen Publishing and Triangle Interactive. A full list of titles can be found here (title availability may vary by region).

“Our community is diverse and Sacramento Public Library makes it a goal to reach all of our patrons,” said Matt Hill, E-Resources Supervisor at Sacramento Public Library. “With OverDrive’s support and this collection of free materials, it makes it that much easier to achieve these goals. We are excited to be able to offer this Spanish language collection to our community and keep our youngest readers engaged in digital literacy alongside our physical collection.”

Jessica Lee, District Library Coordinator at Berkeley Unified School District in California, added, “Finding quality materials in Spanish for our school libraries is always such a struggle. And with so much reading done virtually this year, our Two-Way Immersion program in particular has been very anxious to get books to kids. This resource of always-available materials on high-interest topics will be such a gift to our teachers and our students! I can’t wait to share this collection with them.”

New and existing OverDrive library and school partners automatically received these free titles starting October 30. This new collection joins the COVID Response: Kids & Teens titles OverDrive donated to help libraries meet patron demand. These collections, along with the company’s Black Lives Matter: Community Read programs, supplement libraries’ and schools’ catalogs with unlimited simultaneous use ebooks and audiobooks at no cost.
