Reading is everyone’s National Library Week superpower
By: Adam Sockel, Integrated Marketing Specialist
OverDrive joins all librarians to promote and celebrate National Library Week for what they truly are — superheroes of society. To celebrate librarians, reading, and digital libraries, we’ve called on a few friends to assemble with their stories of libraries and reading. We’ve partnered with Marvel to create several original images depicting some of the Marvel Universe’s most famous characters sharing their love of reading.
On Sunday, to kick off National Library Week, Marvel shared a carousel of nine unique images of Marvel superheroes showing why they love libraries and digital reading and libraries on their Instagram.
You can see several of them below or find the entire set of images on Marvel’s Instagram page here.
As we share these scenes from the Marvel Universe to OverDrive’s social media, we encourage our library and school partners to share our posts to help spread the word about your marvelous digital libraries. During National Library Week and all year long, we’re excited for even more users to discover their true superpower — reading.
Big Library Read digital book club
In addition to help from our friends at Marvel, OverDrive is dedicated to supporting libraries in a myriad of ways. This includes the next Big Library Read, our global digital book club. The program launched this week with The Art of Taking it Easy by Dr. Brian King. Users can borrow the ebook in Libby with no waitlists or holds from April 5th-19th, participate in a worldwide discussion board, and join our live Zoom event with the author.
Sign up for our special Big Library Read Event with Dr. Brian King and the Professional Book Nerds.
A major Libby update
Last week, Libby received a major update as well. Changes in the app are designed to keep the library ever-present in a user’s reading journey and make it easier than ever to find an ebook, audiobook, or magazine to enjoy instantly.
