One million Sweet Reads and counting! New

One million Sweet Reads and counting!

Your students are reading at a record-breaking rate this year!

At the end of June, our global Sora Sweet Reads program hit ONE MILLION checkouts, and we couldn’t be more excited. Whether you’re on summer break or in the middle of your school year (depending on where you are in the world), it’s wonderful to see how students are reading all across the globe.

(Last year, your readers helped us break a Sora Sweet Reads record by reaching one million checkouts by the end of the program. This year, we jumped right past the previous record and hit the milestone before July!)

Top Sora Sweet Reads schools

Every single one of the schools participating in Sora Sweet Reads has contributed to this exciting checkout milestone and we are so thankful for every one of you. You’ve worked hard to promote Sora, make reading a priority, and tell your students and community about the program.

That said – a little friendly competition is always fun, right? So, without further ado, here’s the current top five of schools around the world for Sora Sweet Reads checkouts (this does not include checkouts outside of Sweet Reads titles).

Top Sora Sweet Reads titles for 2025

It’s always fun to see which titles students are gravitating towards. While the top titles may shift and change along the duration of the Sweet Reads program, these are the current top-ranking titles by checkout.

Tools to keep students reading

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our Summer Break resource page – it’s a one-stop shop to have your “Best Break Yet!” Here you can find Sweet Reads materials, training resources, and collection development tips curated for this time of year. Also be sure to check out the Sora Sweet Reads website for print and digital resources to keep your students engaged and reading throughout the program.

Last year we debuted our partnership with Book Creator – the simplest, most inclusive way to create content in the classroom – to bring you a fully customizable digital book journal template. We are thrilled to continue our partnership and offer you an updated template for 2025. Getting started is free and easy and the templates can be customized for any age group. You can view the template and then download the instruction PDF to get started!

TeachingBooks is full of amazing supplemental reading materials for your Sora titles. Think games, extra reading, pronunciation guides, and more. TeachingBooks has once again put together resources for all our Sweet Reads titles and has made them freely accessible for you and your students all program long. Be sure to check out these amazing extras to bring even more content to your students this summer – without any extra work by you!
