At ISTE Live 24, Google announced some exciting new developments for its Google Workspace for Education – including additional integrations with the Sora student reading platform (part of the first cohort of Google Classroom add-ons in 2022).

Sora will be one of six new partners coming soon to Google for Education’s expanded app licensing program, which is ultimately geared at providing educators with a wider range of integrated tools to enrich the teaching and learning experience.

App licensing gives schools the power to manage their edtech platforms centrally from within the Google Admin console (the same management platform for Chromebooks and Google Workspace for Education).

Why does this matter for schools with Sora? Overall, app licensing will make it easier for schools to install the app and provide login access to all students and staff via their Google credentials, ensuring appropriate access for all users. Participation in this program will not change anything about the student experience in Sora.

There are more details to come on this integration, so stay tuned!
