Library Marketing ideas perfect for October
By: Christina Samek, OverDrive Marketing Specialist
We launched the Resource Center 6 months ago to make it easy for you to access OverDrive marketing, training, collection development assistance and more. We do our best to keep it refreshed each month and in the latest set of updates, we have focused on helping our library partners connect with young readers. If you’re looking for some new ideas to connect with the teens and children in your community that live and breathe technology but maybe haven’t fully embraced digital books quite yet, we’re here to help.
First, check out our Kids & Teens Promo Pack to help your library better promote your children’s and YA collections. Our teen lit bookmarks are a great way to help celebrate Teen Read Week, October 9-15. Download now, in *Marketing & Outreach > Print-Ready Materials > What’s New*.
Have a little fun with your users, young and old, and share our temporary tattoos. Multiple, fun designs are available in our downloadable zip file – and don’t worry, they wash right off! Don’t miss our best practices for printing recommendations, whether you choose to print in-house or online. Available now in Marketing & Outreach > Print-Ready Materials > What’s New.
We’ve added a new video that showcases one of our key messages: “OverDrive is for everyone”. Share across your library channels to reach all kinds of readers to encourage reading at home, reading at school, reading anywhere and everywhere. Available for embed now, in Marketing & Outreach > Digital Resources > Videos.
In the spirit of the season, we’ve also added new event ideas. Get a little spooky this Halloween with our eBOOk Story Hour and Stream & Scream events! Dedicate a story hour to kid-friendly eBooks with a Halloween theme and/or have a little fun and spread the word about your streaming video collection with a screening at your library. This could be a popular choice for older teens that don’t mind a few thrills and chills! Each event includes instructions, a poster, a web graphic, and a list of recommended titles hand-selected by our on-staff librarians! Review now in Marketing & Outreach > Programming & Events.
Lastly, speaking of the Resource Center, we want to know what you think and how we can make it even better! Take our survey for a chance to win an OverDrive prize package including:
• A Fire tablet
• A customized hanging vinyl banner
• Printed promotional materials
• And more!
The survey ends Friday October 7th so don’t miss your chance to make your voice heard.
