New Marketing Kits to Celebrate Your Digital Collection
By: Annie Suhy, OverDrive Outreach Specialist
There’s a lot to celebrate in the digital literary land this month. Cue Kool & The Gang.
? Ceeeelebrate good times, come on!?
Pass the good times and the good vibes along to your patrons by letting them know about your digital collection that’s ready to party all day and all night long!
Starting this month, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter. From August 27 – September 10, public libraries in the U.S. and Canada can enjoy free, unlimited access to the first title in the bestselling series: Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone. Encourage patrons to relive the magic and inspire new generations of muggles to take a peek inside the wizarding world. A free marketing kit is available with posters, flyers, and social media graphics to invite readers to experience the magic throughout your library.
Just around the corner is the best celebration of all (though we may be biased): Read an Ebook Day. Every year on September 18, people from around the world celebrate by—you guessed it—reading an ebook, but also sharing their reads on social media with the hashtag #ebookLove.
Here at the OverDrive Headquarters, we take a break to celebrate by cracking open an ebook or chatting about our latest read with a friend. It’s a worldwide celebration of libraries, literature, technology, and the future of storytelling. How will your library celebrate? In the past, many have thrown parties, read-a-thons, and spent the day tweeting out their #ebookLove. Find ready-made resources like flyers and digital graphics that will help you plan for this special day and get patrons excited to take part and share their story.
And lastly, it’s that time of year that every parent celebrates (and some kids too). It’s back to school! With so many educational resources available, whether it be help with homework or just a break from the academics with a fun read, the digital collection doesn’t become obsolete when the school bell rings. Remind parents and students that the digital library is always available and can be a valuable asset in their educational journey. Access this seasonal marketing kit and ensure young readers become lifelong library lovers.
And let the good times (and good ebooks) roll!
