Recently, our Professional Book Nerds podcast created a 30 Day Reading challenge where they shared various types of books for 30 straight days on social media. After seeing the massive interest across social media for that challenge, they’ve decided to create a 2019 Reading Challenge for readers around the world! This challenge is similar to others you may have seen around the internet like the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge or similar events created by websites like Pop Sugar or Goodreads.

Our nerds have created a list of 12 tasks that readers will need to complete throughout the calendar year including things like “Read a book published in the year you were born” and “Read a book written by two or more authors.” Once completed, readers can fill out the below form and send it to the Professional Book Nerds either via email ( or by sending a screenshot to them on Instagram or Twitter (@ProBookNerds) for a chance to win a free device from OverDrive. Readers cannot use the same book for more than one task.

This list of tasks is designed to help readers expand the types of books they would normally read and help them discover new genres and themes they may not realize they enjoy yet. Be sure to subscribe the the podcast as they’ll be sure to share recommendations for each task throughout the year and join the conversation by using the hashtag #PBNRead2019 to show your progress and what you’re currently reading.

Don’t miss out on this fun way to find your next great reading adventures all throughout 2019. Feel free to print off the below image and share it with your fellow librarians, family, friends, and any other reader in your life!
